Why “Salt-N-Pepa” didn’t like the song “Push It”

erin-andrews-kimmel-10

It’s been nearly three decades since female rap duo “Salt-N-Pepa” pushed it real good, but the women born Cheryl James and Sandra Denton haven’t yet tired of their iconic hit. And neither have audiences and advertisers alike, as “Push It” is presently serving as the soundtrack for a an entirely entertaining GEICO commercial.

Coming up Monday evening, the longtime friends and collaborators will join Don Lemon as part of his “CNN Tonight” primetime program, and following the taping they were kind enough to join Jason Kurtz in the show’s “Green Room” for an exclusive, behind-the-scenes chat.

Despite all the accolades that have accompanied “Push It” throughout the years, as Kurtz learns, initially, the ladies weren’t in love with the tune.

“We didn’t even like the song, how about that,” laughs James, aka “Salt.” “A deejay flipped it over – it was a ‘B Side.'”

On the strength of that deejay’s eye – or, rather, ear – for hit-making, the song, and the group’s debut album – “Hot, Cool & Vicious” – went platinum, and the rest, as they say, is hip-hop history.

Watch the above clip as “Salt-N-Pepa” offer their take on modern music and discuss their work with clothing company Lane Bryant. And, for the full interview with the lyrical ladies, check out Don Lemon on “CNN Tonight” at 10 p.m.

Why won’t Kevin Costner make a Super Bowl prediction?

erin-andrews-kimmel-10

Following an honest and entertaining visit with “CNN Tonight” host Don Lemon, legendary actor Kevin Costner was kind enough to join Jason Kurtz in the show’s “Green Room” for an exclusive, behind-the-scenes chat.

Despite being well-known for several notable sports roles (“Field of Dreams,” “Bull Durham,” “Tin Cup,” etc.) Costner clammed up when asked to offer a prediction for the forthcoming Super Bowl.

“I don’t have an idea who’s going to win,” Costner told Kurtz, the program’s Digital Producer. “I don’t need anybody else’s predictions either, it’s boring to me.”

Watch the above clip as Costner further explains his verbal stiff-arm, and also to hear what his long-term film-making plan is should he tire of the sports genre.

Pageviews Whining About Being Ready for “Next Erin Andrews” To Step Up

erin-andrews-kimmel-10

In her early ESPN days, Erin Andrews used to own the internet. Fresh images of her latest sideline ensembles were greeted with Christmas morning zeal. In fact, this very blog labeled her “Pageviews” thanks to her remarkable ability to dictate web traffic:

But somewhere amidst her revealing hotel peephole incident, and her stop over on Oprah’s couch, a funny thing happened to Erin Andrews. She got pretty damned tired of being, well, Erin Andrews.

Buy “The House That Rockne Built” for Half A Million Dollars

No. Not that one. With room for nearly 81-thousand people, and brand new field turf, Notre Dame Stadium isn’t likely to go on the market any time soon. However, Knute Rockne‘s other house is, and it’s well within a Four Horseman’s gallop of Touchdown Jesus.

Credited as the driving force behind the construction of the current Fighting Irish home field, Rockne also commissioned a personal residence in South Bend, and for the first time ever it’s available to the public, priced to move at $500,000.

Teigen-Cooking-1

In as much as her photos alone produce puddles of drool, and seeing as her husband – R&B singer John Legend – has been heating up the music charts for more than a decade, perhaps it’s no surprise that model Chrissy Teigen‘s next spread will be of the culinary variety. Or, maybe she’s simply counting on her brand – which boasts a combined 1.5 million plus Instagram and Twitter followers – producing countless consumers banking on a back-cover photo that features the author, an apron, and little else.
